Jay Z To Produce Trayvon Martin Narrative Film And Documentary Series

Martin who was a 17 year old unarmed high school student was shot and killed in Florida by George Zimmerman a member of a local neighborhood watch group and he was acquitted of the murder case.This led to nationwide protests,and based on his claims,he said he shot Martin in self defense following a physical combat which ensued between them.


According to sources,the rapper and the Weinstein company will produce a six part documentary series and a narrative feature film about the Martin shooting and the aftermath.The 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin,sparked a nationwide outrage which led to a national debate about the inequalities in the criminal justice system.This however brought about the 'Black Lives Matter' movement.

Jay Z who has already acquired the rights to two books,Suspicion Nation:The inside story of the Trayvon Martin injustice and Why we continue to Repeat it by Lisa Bloom and Rest in Power:The Enduring life of Trayvon Martin written by Trayvon's parents,Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton,is going to support and start off the mini-series and feature film.
