A Couple Married For 71 Years Both Passed Away Four Minutes Apart On The Same Day

lf Russel,93 passed away at his care home in Leicester while his wife Vera,91 was pronounced dead in a hospital just three miles away.


Wilf who was suffering from dementia was taken to a nursing home last year and when Vera went to visit her husband,he could not recognize his own wife,this led to the deterioration of Vera's health.

According to Stephanie Welch,their grand daughter,she said,''I think she was waiting for him to go,she was broken hearted;i went to visit her at Leicester Royal Infirmary on the Sunday before and she opened her eyes and asked me where Wilf was?,the last thing she said to me was,''We're a right pair,aren't we?''.

Vera was later pronounced dead at the hospital at about 6:54am and she never knew her husband had also passed on.The couple met 75 years ago and they have three sons,five grand children,seven great grand children and two great-great grand children.The family plans to hold a joint funeral for them.
