A Breakthrough For Male Infertility

A new study has shown that a device attached to a smartphone can evaluate a Man's semen and tell the accuracy of his fertility up to 98%.The new device uses the phone camera to measure sperm concentration and motility.

Scientists say, this new technology consists of an external accessory in which the sperm samples are placed and there is an App that analyzes them and there is also a disposable kit that collects samples for insertion into the casing placed around the smartphone.

They hope that with this new tech,it will be easier and cheaper for men to take the test without going to the clinic.

According to Haidi Shafiee who is an investigator at the Brigham and Women's Hospital:

''We wanted to come up with a solution to make male fertility testing as simple and affordable as home pregnancy tests.
''Current clinical tests are lab based, time consuming and subjective. This test is low cost, quantitative, highly accurate and can analyze a video of an undiluted, unwashed semen sample in less than five seconds.''
