Malaysia has banned the song 'Despacito' from playing in its airwaves
Despacito,a Spanish song released early January by Luis Fonsi which features Daddy Yankee from Puerto Rico has been banned by the Malaysian government due to the fact that the song is believed to be 'un-Islamic' and sexually charged.
The song which the government says has been wildly criticized by the muslim majority in the country, will further expose its citizens to obscene and immoral behaviour and has therefore mandated state-run radio and TV stations to henceforth desist from playing the song.
The minister for Communications and Multimedia,Salleh Said Keruak however enjoined private stations to follow suit by encouraging them to practice self-censorship as the song was not suitable for the generality of the populace.
The song Despacito, which is very popular in Malaysia is the most streamed song worldwide but according to Atriza Umar who is Chairperson for the Amanah women's wing,Awan, however said the song depicted porn in all ramifications.
Some excerpts of the lyrics of the song Despacito below:
''Yes you know that i have been looking at you for a while......I have to dance with you today,i saw that the look in your eyes was calling me.
Show me the way that i am going....You are the magnet and i am the metal.I am getting closer and i am setting up the plan.
Just the thought of it accelerates the pulse....Now i am enjoying it more than usual. All my senses are asking for more.We cannot do this in a rush.
Slowly....I want to breathe in your neck slowly.....Let me murmur things in your ear,so that you remember if you are not with me.
Slowly....I want to undress you in kisses slowly, firmly in the walls of your labyrinth and of your body,i want to create a manuscript.
Up,up,up,up,up....I want to see your hair dance,i want to be your rhythm....want you to show my mouth..Your favorite places.....Let me trespass your danger zones until i make you scream and you forget your last name.......!

''However,I,as the representative of Awan call for the cessation of these songs as well as others with obscene, violent and similar interpretations which are not compatible with Eastern and Islamic culture.I regret that these problematic songs are not censored by the ministries.''
