Volcanic eruption in Indonesia leaves about ten people injured
The Indonesia Island of Java experienced a volcanic eruption earlier today,about ten persons were reported injured and also a helicopter going for rescue mission to the island with eight people on board crashed.
According to reports,a National Search and Rescue Agency helicopter crashed with four crew men and four rescuers on board near the village of Candiroto in central Java province,Indonesia.
Authorities says the Sileri Crater at Dieng Plateau erupted at about 11:30 am local time on Sunday spewing mud,ash and cold lava as high as 50 meters.
Local media states that about 17 visitors were at the crater when the eruption occurred and two bodies from the helicopter crash have been found by the villagers.
The army and police were deployed to the scene of the eruption and crash site to further investigate and evacuate any victim that may be hurt.
The Dieng Plateau is an area popular with tourists based on the fact that the climate is cool and it has an altitude of about 6,600 feet above sea level with Hindu temples all around.
