Ferry Capsizes In Burma Killing At Least 20 People
A ferry carrying at least 66 people have capsized in Burma's Ayeyarwaddy Delta.The ferry which had most of it's passengers returning from a wedding ceremony on Friday night had a collision with a boat carrying gravel.According to police officer Nay Lin Tun,about 30 people were rescued after the ferry capsized in the Ngawun river at about 7:30pm on Friday night,
At least 20 people lost their lives,16 women and four men altogether,the search for the remaining people continues.A police officer said they were crossing to the other side of the river after attending a wedding ceremony in Pathein and that most of them on board were relatives from the same village.
Reports says both boats were without light when they collided in the middle of the river.Rescue operations continues.
