Bedbugs Are Becoming Resistant To Pesticide According To New Study
Bedbugs are known to be blood suckers and they can multiply in their thousands within a short period of time.New studies has shown that bedbugs are becoming resistant to insecticides and other chemicals and based on research it is advisable to use the physical, mechanical and cultural control methods which includes mattress encasement, traps and insecticide.
The study which was published in The Journal Of Economic Entomology states that bedbugs are becoming susceptible to two common pesticides,Chlorfenapyr and Bifenthrin.
According to corresponding author,Ameya Gondhalekar,''No one was looking at if bedbugs were resistant to those forms of insecticide, the big message is that you should not rely on insecticide only but use a multitude of options;regular monitoring and detecting infestation easily to help keep any outbreaks from spiraling out of control are important''.
The study also reveals a more thorough approach by combining chemical and non-chemical ways of keeping bedbugs at bay which is steam, physical removal and mattress encasements and traps.
