The presidential elections in France have kicked off with polling stations opened for voters to cast their votes.Four candidates are currently in the race for the next French President-Francois Fillon,Emmanuel Macron,Marine Le Pen and Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

Candidates cancelled major rallies due to terrorist attack that happened on Thursday at the Champs Elysees in the French capital.Security have already been beefed up with about 50,000 police officers and 7,000 soldiers deployed across France to protect it's citizens.

According to reports,about 47 million people are eligible to vote in this election but 13 million of them live abroad,French residents based in the U.S.A and in Canada began voting on Saturday.In this first round of elections,only two candidates who polled the most votes will advance to the second round in two weeks time when the French president will be announced.
