Americans celebrate 241 years of Independence

The United States of America had its 241st Independence day celebrated by Americans across the country on the Fourth of July 2017 and was declared a federal holiday across the country.


Fourth of July is a national day in the United States,a day that heralded the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and since then,it's been a yearly affair of celebrations,fireworks,baseball games,picnics,barbecues and concerts.

This year however,the day was marked under tight security as fun seekers were thoroughly screened by uniformed men who were heavily armed wearing helmets and bulletproof vests.

Checkpoints set up by the police was in place to examine people carrying bags and other items.Fireworks started around 9pm in New York,as the skyline was lit up with different colors,fun seekers cheered on in amazement.

In Washington,a parade was held to mark the day and  a burger competition saw Molly Schuyler eating 21 Z-Burger hamburgers for 10 minutes to defend her title.

Across the country it was fun,fun and much fun but for Oregon that experienced two deaths after 15 people were arrested  and the deaths were reported as non-violent deaths.
