New York subway train mishap,34 people injured

A subway train incident in New York City on Tuesday left about 34 persons injured when the train derailed in upper Manhattan at about 10 a.m.

According to Daniel Nigro who is the New York City Fire Department Commissioner, about 34 people suffered from minor injuries and 17 of them were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Some passengers on board the train described their harrowing experiences:

''We were on the express track from 145th to 125th,all of a sudden it was like the train just started like banging against the walls of the tunnel. It was going up and down, sort of like a runaway roller coaster, like a bucking horse. The only thing is that we were only a couple of hundred feet from the platform,it was like riding on the back of a bull.''
''One lady began having a panic attack and most people had to use their shirts to not breathe in the smoke from the accident, some people are crying.''

According to reports, service on other subway lines running between upper Manhattan and Brooklyn were suspended or re-routed.The New York City subway system has come under criticism over time based on the fact that the infrastructure and equipment on the subway is frail and old which often a time lead to delays.
