A military plane with 120 people on board have gone missing in Myanmar

A military spokesman have confirmed that a military transport plane with about 120 passengers on board have gone missing after contact was lost with the plane while flying at 18,000ft over the Andaman sea just about 29 minutes after take off.


The plane was heading from southern Myanmar to Yangon on Wednesday with family members of military personnel which were about 106 in number and about 14 crew members.

According to Kyaw Kyaw Htey who is a civil aviation officer at the Myeik Airport:

''We don't know what exactly happened to this plane after the loss of contact.The weather at the time of take off was normal and with good visibility.''

According to the military,the Chinese made plane Y-8F-200 went missing and lost contact after it took off from Myeik which prompted the Military to start a sea and air search with naval ships and also military aircraft preparing for rescue operations.

About three military planes and six navy ships are already searching for the plane which is believed to have crashed into the ocean based on the fact that the plane was flying over the Andaman Sea at the time it went off radar.
