Chef Darren Simpson has died after suffering from an illness

Celebrity Chef,Darren Simpson has passed on after suffering from heart attack on Thursday night at a hospital near his home in Byron Bay,north of Sydney,Australia.


Simpson who had recently gone in for rehabilitation for alcohol addiction was born in Northern Ireland and trained as a chef in well known restaurants such as River Cafe in London and Le Gavroche and at 21 years of age he became UK's young chef of the year,the youngest ever to win the prize.

He later moved to Australia were he worked as the Head Chef in Aqua Luna Bar and Restaurant in Sydney and later in 2005,he opened his award winning modern day restaurant known as La Sala(The Room).

His appearances on TV shows made him quite popular and respected in his field.He presided as a judge in the reality TV show,'My Restaurant Rules',he was a resident chef on Sunrise and also a presenter of a lifestyle program.

He left behind his wife,Julie and two sons,Hamish and Angus aged 12 and 14 respectively.His colleagues and friends paid tributes on Twitter.
