Apple unveils the HomePod speaker
At this year's WWDC annual developer conference in San Jose which is a key event for Apple,the company unveiled the HomePod smart speaker,which aims at delivering a whole total music experience and also having an interactive voice assistant.
Apple is obviously coming in late to the market of smart speakers as Google Home and Amazon Echo have already taken the front line in these areas but according to Tim Cook,the best is always the last to show up.
The HomePod voice assistant smart speaker,is focused on music first before Siri.The smart speaker is 7 inch tall,comes with seven beam forming tweeter array,it's shape is circular,it has a custom made woofer,comes with multi channel echo cancellation,it has an A8 chip,the type in iPhone 6 and it is Siri enabled.
The HomePod is integrated with Siri,so you can use it as a home assistant.You can directly play music from Apple music on the HomePod and ask about weather,sports scores,news headlines,check stocks and also answer trivia questions.
The HomePod smart speaker and assistant can also be used with your home kit enabled devices to control lights,controlling your garage doors,air conditioning and a whole lot more.The smart device will start shipping in the U.K,Australia and the U.S this year,other countries will have their hands on it next year.
The HomePod will cost $349 and it is available in space grey and white colors and as Tim Cook,the C.E.O of Apple rightly puts it,'We believe it is going to take your home music experience to the next level.''
