A van in North London has killed one person, others severely injured

A deliberate terror related attack happened at about past midnight,in the early hours of Monday morning when a driver in a white van intentionally rammed his van into pedestrians at Seven Sisters Road near Finsbury Park Mosque, north of London.

At least one person has been confirmed to have died while ten others were rushed to the hospital.Eyewitness reports states that Muslim worshipers from the Mosque were trying to help an elderly man who had fainted on the street when the van sped up and hit them.

The driver of the van was immediately fought and pinned down by bystanders until the arrival of the police. The attacker was said to be clean shaven with curly hair and he wore a white t-shirt,officers later arrested the 48 year old suspect.

In a statement issued by the Muslim Council of Britain after the attack reads thus:

''During the night, ordinary British citizens were set upon while they were going about their lives, completing their night worship. My prayers are with the victims and their families. It appears from eyewitness accounts that the perpetrator was motivated by Islamophobia.
''Over the past weeks and months,Muslims have endured many incidents of Islamophobia and this is the most violent manifestation to date.Given we are approaching the end of the month of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid with many Muslims going to local mosques,we expect the authorities to increase security outside mosques as a matter of urgency.
''Muslim communities have been calling for increased action to tackle the growth in hate crime for many years and transformative action must now be taken to tackle not only this incident but the hugely worrying growth in Islamophobia.
''Many will feel terrorized no doubt,be angry and saddened by what has taken place tonight. We urge calm as the investigation establishes the full facts and in these last days of Ramadan, pray for those affected and for justice.''

This attack, according to eyewitnesses,is devastating and they fear for their lives as it is not safe to move or walk around in the streets of London anymore.
