Experts warn of ways hackers track our smartphones

In a world of high tech, advanced technology and social media activeness, where private information concerning individuals is obviously before the entire world, experts have however warned of ways in which stalkers can track our devices.

A research assistant from the University of Oxford,Piers O'Hanlon while speaking to participants at the BSides London Security Conference clearly stated that there were different ways in which stalkers can track or trace our various devices.

''The current security deployments make it too easy to perform these attacks. There are problems i discovered in the way that mobile phones communicate over WiFi.
''That means that the phones can potentially be tracked by unknown parties and be tracked by their unique mobile identifier.''

He continued by saying that anyone can have access or setup a fake access point and your device can then automatically connect to the fake network. When this is done, your data and other vital information can be assessed by a criminal or even terrorist groups.

He went further by giving solutions on the best ways which individuals can protect themselves and their devices and also how tech giants can be of help.

''Generally they need to run their updates especially if they are running banking Apps or if they have personal information on their phone, but there is not really much else that an end user can do.
''I contacted Apple,Google,Microsoft and BlackBerry and it's kind of in that order that they actually responded and were proactive in trying to address it.Apple specifically developed a feature into iOS 10 to improve the situation.
''Google initially were not so worried but then, when i told them that Apple were concerned, they eventually said,'Okay, let's have another look.''
