Explosion at a Wisconsin plant leaves one person dead and several injured

Authorities say a corn mill plant in Southern Wisconsin was leveled to the ground after an explosion which left one enployee dead and about a dozen injured on Wednesday.


The unfortunate incident happened at the Didion Milling plant in Canbria,in a village North of Madison and according to Police,about sixteen employees were working when suddenly the blast occurred at about 11 p.m on Wednesday.

The president of Didion Milling plant,Riley Didion in a statement said,their prayers was with everyone affected and hinted that investigations was ongoing.

''We are praying for our team.There's a lot we don't know right now.Our prayers are with everyone.''

According to Cambria village President,Glen Williams,the building which is a four storey building houses the mill's lab was brought down completely,and there was no need for an evacuation as there was no danger or threat to the public.

''Quite a few of the employees live in the village and surrounding area.So,it is going to affect the whole area.
''Not just the shock of the event but the economic hardship to the families.''

Williams also added that fire service men,law enforcement agencies and rescue team in the area responded promptly.

A spokeswoman Emily Kumlien said,about five people were airlifted to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison  four were taken to burns center while the fifth was in the trauma and life support unit.Another hospital,Divine Savior Hospital also received about six casualties who were treated and discharged.
