Isis linked militants kills a group of nine Christians in the Philippines

The terrorist group known as Maute group on Wednesday shot and killed a group of nine Christians at a roadside checkpoint,the group ordered the truck in which the nine Christians boarded to stop in the city of Marawi,Philippines.


After identifying them as Christians,they opened fire on them and murdered all of them.The U.S trained military forces are already in the city to battle and reclaim the city from the terrorist group.

The military says about five soldiers and a policeman died in confrontation with the group while thirteen of the terrorists gunmen were killed.

A spokesman for the military's First Infantry Regiment ,Jo-Ar Herrera,said:

''We are confronting maybe 30-40 remaining from the local terrorist group.The military is conducting precise surgical operations to flush them out.

''The situation is very fluid and movements are dynamic because we wanted to out-step and out-manoeuver them.''

President of the Philippines,Rodrigo Duterte,also said that a policeman was caught at a checkpoint and beheaded.This comes as the President has declared martial law on the Southern third of the Philippines.

Reports says that the city of Marawi is populated with about 200,000 inhabitants but many have fled their homes due to the insurgency of the extremist Maute group.Many civilians have taken refuge in various military camps across Marawi city on Thursday.
