John Travolta donates his Boeing 707 plane to the Australia museum

The Hollywood icon and qualified pilot,John Travolta who bought the plane over 30 years ago when the Australian national carrier had it retired from service, has decided to donate the plane to the Australian Aviation Museum.

The Boeing 707 plane was made in 1964 for Qantas Airways and John Travolta who is a Qantas ambassador since 2002,will be among those who will officially deliver the vintage plane to Australian Aviation Museum.

The Australian Aircraft Preservation Organization has said,it will join in restoring and fixing the plane before it can make it's final journey from the United States to it's final resting place in Sydney.

John Travolta in a statement said,he was pleased to donate the vintage plane to the restoration society and was sure with capable hands, the plane will fly once more.

''It gives me great pleasure to make this exciting historical announcement that my beloved Boeing 707 aircraft has been donated to the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society(HARS).
''The aircraft currently requires a lot of work to be restored to a safe flying state and having seen first hand, the dedication and passion of people at HARS,i have no doubt this beautiful and historical aircraft will be flying again.I am hoping to be part of the crew to fly the aircraft to Australia.''

The Historical Aircraft Restoration Society President,De La Hunty also said the idea was first nurtured back in 2009 when he met with Travolta.

''We share a mutual respect for old airplanes and flying and at that stage,we were keen to suggest to him that if he ever wanted to part with his Boeing 707,we would be very interested in it.
''When we heard earlier this year that he was looking at possibly not continuing with his Boeing 707,we made contact. He jumped at the idea and so we have been in detailed discussions and negotiations since.''
