Four Indian men who ganged raped a 23 year old female trainee in 2012 to be executed

Vinay Sharma a gym instructor,Akshay Kumar Thakur a bus cleaner,Pawan Guptar a fruit seller and Mukesh Singh who is unemployed ganged raped a 23 year old trainee physiotherapist in December 2012 by luring her and her male friend into a mini bus in New Delhi,India and raped her severally,using a metal bar to beat her and her male friend before dumping them by the road side.


She later died two weeks later in a Singapore hospital.The violent crime sparked a wide protest and drew the attention of the whole world.The four men were sentenced to death in 2013 by a trial court and their verdict upheld by the high court in 2014,they went on to appeal to the Supreme court.

On Friday however,a top court in India upheld their death sentences as the Supreme court threw out their appeal.The fifth attacker according to reports,hanged himself in prison while the case was on going.

The mother of the victim while granting an interview,said she was satisfied and happy that the death sentence was upheld.The victim's father also said:

''It's not just a victory for my family,it's a victory for each and every woman in our country.''
