Thousands of accounts deleted by Facebook due to upcoming elections in Britain
Ahead of the British elections coming up on June the 8th,Facebook in an effort to battle fake news online has deleted tens of thousands of accounts in Britain.Facebook also deleted adverts on some dailies in Britain stating how readers can detect such fake news by looking closely at URLs.
Facebook already completed a major purge of accounts just last month that was associated with a sophisticated spam operation.
Simon Milner who is Facebook's Director of Policy in the U.K. said:
The tech giant also made known that it has engaged the services of Poynter Institute to investigate and flag suspicious stories on its site.
