Google search will now be able to locate nearby events
Google has announced that it is updating its App and web experience to enable users search for events which are close to them.These events includes concerts,meet-ups,sporting events,festivals,lectures and ceremonies which maybe happening thereby without your knowledge.
The tech giant made it clearly known that what initiated this move was the fact that millions of its users are daily searching for queries related to finding local events and activities.
Google says it has partnered with a number of event related sites for their content to be eligible in search results.When a user for instance types an enquiry like,'wedding party in Lagos' or 'movies this weekend',the user will see detailed information about the event including date,time and location.
About 14 event supported sites are currently available and Google hopes to expand this with time.The tech firm also made it clear that it has made available developer guidelines for interested parties who want their events to surface in Google search.
The updated App search experience will let the user see details of the event at a glance like,title,date,time and location.You can however tap on 'more events' and a screen will show you an expanded list of suggestions,choose your option and pay for tickets directly.
This update is only applicable for those in the U.S. on Google App for Android and iOS and mobile web.There is no word on an international update yet.
