Miss District of Columbia wins this Year's Miss USA
This year's Miss USA pageant which took place at Mandalay Bay Convention Center on the Las Vegas Strip saw fifty one beautiful women who represented each of the state and of course the nation's capital competing for the crown.
The show kicked off with a performance from Cirque du Soleil show,a Las Vegas staple which is based on Michael Jackson's songs and contestants took the stage when 'Black or White' by Michael Jackson started playing as acrobats also performed.
The women modeled their evening gowns as Brett Eldredge,CMA award winner performed his new single,'The Long Way'.
The show was hosted by Terrence J,Ashley Graham and Julianne Hough.As the two hour event finally made its final lapse,the finalists were announced.
The runner-up was Chhavi Verg-Miss New Jersey,a student at Rutgers University studying Marketing and Spanish.The second runner-up was Meridith Gould-Miss Minnesota,a student at University of Minnesota studying Apparel Retail Merchandising.
Kára McCullough from Washington D.C,a graduate from South Carolina State University,an African-American,a Nuclear Chemist,25 years of age and works for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission as a physical scientist won this year's pageant and was crowned the 65th Miss U.S.A. 2017.
Miss U.S.A 2017 winner after the event had this advice for ladies and women out there:
''I am extremely thankful for this opportunity,i just want to encourage so many women nationwide to find their passion in any subject possible and understand that nothing is difficult if you really,truly put the work in for it.''
As the event was winding down,during the final round of the pageant,a mind bugging question was thrown at the contestants,what they considered feminism to be and whether they considered themselves feminists.Miss U.S.A. 2017 said she likes to interchange the word feminism to 'equalism'.
