European Union cancels roaming charges

Starting from today the European union has abolished roaming charges for individuals who travel within the EU and folks can now pay for mobile services on their phones at the same rate they pay in their home country.


The new law states that individuals can use their data on their phones anywhere in the EU,prior to this new law,individuals had to pay a lot for calls,text and internet browsing whenever they travel to other EU countries.

In a statement by The European Commission:

''Each time a European citizen crossed an EU border,be it for holidays,work,studies or just for a day,they had to worry about using their mobile phones and a high phone bill from the roaming charges when they came home.

''Eliminating roaming charges is one of the greatest and most tangible successes of the EU.''

According to analyst,phone users should always check with their service providers the details of their tariff plan before traveling,so as to avoid any surprises.
