Eight people have died while five are still missing in Columbia's coal mine explosion
About eight persons have been killed and five others missing when an illegal coal mine in the town of Cucunuba in Cundinamarca,north of Bogota,Columbia exploded on Friday night.
According to reports,rescuers are searching for the missing five miners who are still trapped inside the coal mine.One person was reported to be injured.
The National Mining Agency said a rescue team of about 35 miners and seven engineers have been working round the clock in a frantic search for the missing miners.
A Director of the emergency response unit,Wilson Garcia said:
The National Mining Agency on Twitter said about 14 people were affected,with one person injured,eight dead and five still missing.
The area is said to have illegal underground coal mines and mishaps like this,are very common.
