An unknown disease claim lives in Liberia

An unknown and strange illness has hit Liberia since 23rd of April 2017 resulting in deaths of more than twelve people and more than twenty one people have fallen ill and some were admitted at the Francis Grant Hospital in Sinoe County.


A spokeswoman for World Health Organization,Fadela Chaib said symptoms of the illness includes diarrhea,vomiting,headache and confusion.The admitted patients were quickly tested for Ebola,Lassa fever and Yellow fever but the test came out negative.

According to the Communications Director for Liberia's Ministry of Health,Sorbor George:

''April 25,we got a call from the Sinoe County health team about a series of unexplained deaths,samples have been sent to the U.S centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.''

A spokes person for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention said that several cases tested positive for malaria which have already being treated and that the C.D.C team is in Liberia to work closely with the government and provide support.

Speaking further,Sorbor George explained that:

''We are still not aware what killed them,we don't want to be specific as to the funeral being the reason for the death.We are still investigating and putting our acts together to know what happened.''

This strange illness started after people attended a funeral in Sinoe County,Liberia.The funeral was for a Christian leader in Greenville.
