Court awards a Virginia woman US$110.5 million in latest lawsuit

A St.Louis jury has ruled in favour of 62 year old Lois Slemp from Wise,Virginia in a recent law suit which she alleged that using johnson & johnson's baby powder resulted in her cancer.


Lois Slemp who was not present at the trial,blames her illness on the company's talcum containing products which she has used for more than 40 years.She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012 and the cancer has already spread to her liver.

The jury ruled on Thursday night and awarded her $110.5 million in the lawsuit which obviously isn't the latest,as other similar lawsuit against the company has resulted in the plaintiffs being awarded  over $197 million in damages.

The company in a statement said:

''We are preparing for additional trials this year and we will continue to defend the safety of johnson's Baby Powder.''
