The music festival,Rock am Ring, which is Germany's biggest music festival was cancelled over the weekend due to concrete evidence that there might be a likelihood of a terror attack.

The music festival was initially meant to be a three day event, but was halted on Friday which was the first night of the event.Main security at the venue had already been initiated with police banning bags, rucksacks and also conducted body searches.

A total of 1,200 policemen were already on duty before information came through of a possible terror attack at the event.which led to the evacuation of about 86,000 people from the festival venue at Nurburgring race track, western town of Nurburg.

According to Koblenz police,''The event has been suspended due to concrete leads which do not allow us to eliminate a possible terror threat.''

The event however continued on Saturday with fun seekers allowed into the venue after police had conducted a thorough investigation the previous day which saw about three persons being arrested and their houses searched but they were later released and are still under investigation.
